Cass County Dental Clinic in Belton is looking for a RDH to join our fun and compassionate team! The right person will be dependable, hardworking, thorough, detail-oriented and a team-player! Hygienists with a passion for working with children and/or the underserved are encouraged to apply.The hygienist’s schedule is mostly comprised of patients ages 13-20 but sees some younger patients and some pregnant women.The hygienist will work from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. two-four days a week in Belton or Harrisonville. Scheduling needs are flexible.Requirements: Local Anesthesia/Nitrous Oxide permit, BLS certification, MO Dental Hygiene License in good standing, and positive, patient-focused attitude!Benefits: Competitive wages, Medical & Dental & Vision insurance, 2 weeks paid vacation, IRA with a match, and paid holidays.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks in collaboration with the Dentist to provide comprehensive preventive dental hygiene services to all patients, including but not limited to:

  • Reviews all medical histories at every visit
  • Utilizes dental software to accurately chart all existing dental restorations, oral conditions, and proposed treatment, as dictated by the dentist
  • Assesses need for appropriate radiographs
  • Acquires diagnostic digital intraoral and panoramic radiographs when indicated
  • Performs oral cancer screening/soft tissue evaluation
  • Performs initial & annual periodontal assessment on all patients ages 13+ to include full-mouth probing and attachment loss
  • Provides appropriate dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, fluoride (SDF & varnish) & sealant application (resin & glass ionomer), and nonsurgical periodontal therapy
  • Administers local anesthesia for periodontal patients and for operative patients when requested by the dentist
  • Administers and/or monitors nitrous oxide, upon request by the dentist
  • Discusses all procedures, responds to patient/parent questions, and obtains informed consent for all dental hygiene procedures
  • Accurately documents informed consent, refusal, and treatment options in patient record
  • Accurately documents all procedures in the patient record

Works in collaboration with the clinical team to ensure safety of dental clinic staff and patients, including but not limited to:

  • Ensures proper sterilization & disinfection techniques
  • Maintains compliance with CDC, HIPAA, and OSHA standards
  • Responsible for the maintenance & cleanliness of the dental hygiene operatory and sterilization area
  • Recognizes emergency situations and follows established emergency protocols
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Dentist or Practice Manager

Assures integration of patient education into all aspects of dental hygiene treatment:

  • Educates patients on their homecare status and techniques to improve plaque control
  • Incorporates parent/guardian into education regime for every child
  • Explains importance of maintaining appointment sequence to every patient
  • Discusses complications that may result if the patient fails to complete the treatment plan
  • Discusses complications that may result if the patient fails to complete the treatment plan

Qualifications

  • Current Missouri license to practice Dental Hygiene
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
  • Certified to administer nitrous oxide and local anesthesia
  • Ability to relate well with patients and other healthcare personnel
  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient- and employee-base
  • Willingness to educate patients and the community in health maintenance and the role of the health care team
  • Ability to work well in a face-paced environment
  • Impeccable attention to detail and complete and accurate record-keeping
  • Commitment to expanding access to care for the underserved

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program
  • 3+ years of dental hygiene experience preferred
  • Experience working with dental software (CareStack & Sota Cloud)
  • Experience working in a community health or pediatric dental setting is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred but not required
