BELTON, Mo., (May, 9, 2022) – Cass Community Health Foundation’s 28th Annual 5K for Health raised nearly $83,000 for Cass County Dental Clinic. The 5K was Saturday, May 7 at Southwick Stadium in Belton. It is the only community event that raises funds for Cass Community Health Foundation’s safety net dental clinic. With locations in Belton and Harrisonville, the clinic serves as a dental home for thousands of children in Cass County and the surrounding area who are insured by Missouri Medicaid or are low-income and uninsured. In 2021, nearly 3,700 children were treated at Cass County Dental Clinic.
Top teams included Cass County Dental Clinic with $2,604, Mill Creek Upper Elementary with $2,476 and Grandview C-4 Bulldogs with $2,092. A total of $7,635 was raised from the Belton School District combined 9 teams. The top individual fundraiser was Amy Castle with $1,879 winning the Garmin 245 Forerunner compliments of Garmin.
“This year’s 5K was our most successful fundraising event yet,” Cynthia Randazzo, Cass Community Health Foundation president said. “We are grateful for our generous sponsors, enthusiastic walkers and runners, and every single volunteer that helped make the 5K for Health a fun, exciting morning. Cass Community Health Foundation looks forward to building on this momentum and continue creating healthy smiles in Cass County and the surrounding area.”
The Raymore-Peculiar High School marching band provided entertainment before the 5K while the Grandview High School cheer team and mascot as well as the Harrisonville High School mascot cheered on walkers and runners at the starting and finish lines. The Belton High School football team helped set-up the event and manned the course. The 5K course began at Southwick Stadium and circled around both Belton High School and Cleveland Lake. Michaela Parisi was awarded first place, Amanda Crosby was awarded second, and Michelle Bradley was awarded third in the women’s race. Seth Hunziker was awarded first place, Gabe Voelker was awarded second, and Justin Kohmetscher was awarded third in the men’s race. Race results can be found here. Following the 5K, attendees were invited to enjoy the 5K for Health Block Party and Health Fair sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center. The Block Party and Health Fair included music, raffle prizes, vendors, fun activities, and all-you-can-eat Chris Cakes. City of Grandview alderman, Damon Randolph, chaired the 5K and Grandview private dentist, Dr. Rob Tait, co-chaired.
