BELTON, Mo., (Jan. 8, 2024) – Cass Community Health Foundation’s annual 5K for Health will be Saturday, May 4 at Southwick Stadium in Belton, Missouri. The 30th Annual 5K for Health will raise money for patients at Cass Community Health Foundation’s safety net dental clinic, Cass County Dental Clinic, who serves children and teens in the area. The clinic operates two locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri. Children ages 0-20 who otherwise couldn’t afford quality dental care are treated at the clinic.
Cass Community Health Foundation has a goal to raise $100,000 for Cass County Dental Clinic through the 5K for Health. To help meet that goal, participants can join the fun by registering for $40. Everyone who registers will receive the official 30th Annual 5K for Health t-shirt and a numbered bib. Additional prizes will be awarded to anyone raising $150 or more. Walkers and runners are encouraged to create fundraising teams with family and friends to help the foundation meet its fundraising goal.
New to the event this year, participants can also register their dogs for free. Those bringing dogs also have the option to purchase a dog bandana during registration. Because this year's event is on May 4, Cass Community Health Foundation will also host a Star Wars costume contest. Judges will determine the best overall Star Wars themed costume based on creativity, attention to detail, and overall presentation.
“In our 30th year of this event, we are bringing new and exciting activities for community members of Cass County and the surrounding area,” Cynthia Randazzo, Cass Community Health Foundation president said. “We are excited to host our sponsors and friends as we raise $100,000 for our safety net dental clinic.”
Following the 5K, all participants are invited to enjoy all-you-can-eat Chris Cakes, the 5K Health Fair sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center, music, and raffle prizes.
Todd Krass, Belton Regional Medical Center CEO, will chair the 5K and Sandy Kessinger of Country Club Bank in Belton will co-chair. Belton Regional Medical Center, Cosentino’s Price Chopper, Lytle Construction, Belton Regional Medical Center Medical Staff, Belton School District, Cass Regional Medical Center, Electrical Corporation of America, and Kenny and Suzette Southwick serve as top sponsors of the event. The 5K begins and ends at Southwick Stadium in Belton, Missouri and circles Cleveland Lake. Day-of registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8 a.m.
