Cass Community Health Foundation awards scholarships to students in Cass County and the surrounding area who are pursuing a nursing or health related degree.
Scholarships are made possible through funds established by community donors.

*Who should apply?
Applicants must be planning to study nursing or another health care career to be eligible. This includes students pursuing a four-year baccalaureate degree or those completing a two-year associate degree or certificate program in preparation for a career in health care. Scholarships will be presented to the students that best exemplify the following characteristics:
- Abiding interest in the welfare of others
- Inspires others to be their very best
- Has served as a role model for others
- Personal integrity
- Involvement and commitment to the community
Applicants must be high school seniors at Archie High School, Belton High School, Cass Midway High School, Drexel High School, Grandview High School, Harrisonville High School, Heartland Christian School, Pleasant Hill High School, Raymore-Peculiar High School, Sherwood Cass High School or Training Center Christian School. Students from Cass County, Missouri who are home-schooled are also eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students that plan to use the A+ Scholarship for their first two years of college are not eligible.

*Application Requirements
Essay: The essay MUST include your name in the upper right-hand corner and NOT exceed one page. Selection is primarily based on the essay component of the application.The essay should answer the following questions.
- What factors influenced your choice of a nursing or health career?
- What are your career goals?
- Why should you receive a scholarship?
Letter of Recommendation: High school seniors must submit a signed letter from a counselor or teacher on official letterhead, with their contact information. Letters from staff are not accepted. If the applicant has opted for recommendation letter to remain confidential, please upload document stating that letter will be sent directly to the foundation..
Letter of Acceptance from College or University
Official Transcript: Your high school must send your transcript; transcripts submitted by students are not eligible. You must request an official transcript from your high school counselor to be emailed to scholarships@casscommunityhealth.org.
*THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 15.
The deadline to apply is March 15. If all portions of the application, including the recommendation letter and official transcript, are not received by the deadline, the applicant will be ineligible. Award notifications will occur by May 1.

Applicants must be enrolled in the practical nursing program at one of the following institutions to be eligible.
- Cass Career Center in Harrisonville, Missouri
- Metropolitan Community College - Penn Valley, in Kansas City, Missouri
- Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas City, Kansas
- Concorde Career College in Kansas City, Missouri
Applicants must be seniors at or have graduated from Archie High School, Belton High School, Cass Midway High School, Drexel High School, Harrisonville High School, Heartland Christian School, Pleasant Hill High School, Raymore-Peculiar High School, Sherwood Cass High School or Training Center Christian School or live in Cass County, Missouri. Students from Cass County, Missouri who were home-schooled are also eligible to apply. Applications will also be accepted from non-traditional students residing in Cass County, Missouri. Preference is given to students who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
Scholarships will be presented to the students that best exemplify the following characteristics.

Cass Community Health Foundation Nursing or Other Health Related Scholarships
These scholarships are available for students from or residing in Cass County who are pursuing a nursing or other health related career.
William and Ruth Hoppen Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Bill Hoppen to pay tribute to his wife, Ruth. Ruth and Bill devoted their time, energy and money to Research Belton Foundation, now called Cass Community Health Foundation.
R. Diane Martin Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was created to celebrate the life of Diane Martin, a long-time nurse manager at Research Belton Hospital.
George M. & Elizabeth V. Robinson Memorial Scholarship Elizabeth Robinson created this fund to provide annual scholarships to students pursuing a degree in nursing or other medical professions.
Daniel F. Sheehan Nursing Student Scholarship
This scholarship was created to honor Daniel F. Sheehan, former CEO of Research Belton Hospital, for his steadfast commitment to the improved health of residents from Belton, Raymore, Peculiar and Grandview communities.

Amber Goucher recently graduated from Rockhurst University and is ready to start her career as a nurse. She received a scholarship from Cass Community Health Foundation each year of her education.
Sydney Morgan was awarded Cass Community Health Foundation’s top health care scholarship in 2019. Four years later, she completed nursing school at Missouri Southern State University with three additional scholarships from the foundation.
Maddie Byard’s passion for nursing was sparked at Belton High School. She participated in a four-year biomedical course where she was given the opportunity to explore the medical field. She fell in love with nursing during the course.
